If you are a person who really appreciates the wonders of nature or simply find joy in having a beautiful garden with birds frolicking around it, then you may be thinking of adding a bird house in your yard. But then, you must also realize that there are many ways in which you can create a bird house and at the same time recycle or reuse some materials that you may at first think are just junk.
One of the best ways in which you can make use of your recyclable materials and at the same time provide temporary shelter to your feathered friends is to know how to make a bird house out of paper. Here are the easy to follow instructions as to how to make a bird house out of paper that you and other members in your family can enjoy doing.
What You Will Need
What you will need when you are learning how to make a bird house out of paper is a nice and sturdy milk carton. It is be best if you have already emptied a paper half-gallon milk carton. The next thing to do when learning how to make a bird house out of paper is to open the top of the milk carton and clean the insides of it thoroughly. Afterwards, what you can do is staple the milk carton to keep it shut tight.
When you are finished with the first few instructions and you can see that you have a nice, sturdy piece, tear off one or two inches of a masking tape or duct tape to provide a covering for the staples in the milk carton. The next instruction that you must follow to learn how to make a bird house out of paper and recycled materials is to overlap or cover the entire carton with the masking tape so none of the milk carton is showing. To make it more sturdy and durable cover the entire carton with a shoe polish to make the paper harder.
It will be more fun and colorful, though, if you try painting the entire bird house and draw some nice objects for it to have more style and creativity. After the paint has dried out, you can poke holes under the carton for the rain to drain out. Do not forget to also create holes on top of your bird house and insert a thread to make a loop in case you want to hang your bird house on trees.
